Game Day!

Right! We’re decked out in blue and gold, covered in school logos and on our way out the door for the buses that shall take us to Pasadena for the UCLA-USC game. We have as much hope as is statistically reasonable, because we’re jaded seniors by now, but we’re still gonna scream our hearts out and hope for the best, dammit. Look for us making complete fools out of ourselves on TV 🙂 Trojans are only good once, but Bruins are forever, baby! *g*

Hmmm. Physics midterm is done and over with, though I dare not think too much about how I did. Let’s just say that studying has not been my forte this quarter and leave it at that. In fact, the only thing I seem to have excelled in so far these past few months is… interior decorating. Sigh. We’ll work on that, yes. If only because Wednesday looms, along with two more homework deadlines. Whee?

*blinks* The only Letters and Sciences counselor that I could actually talk to just retired at the end of February. I found this out when I was calling her number this morning hoping to get an appointment. Um. Wow. Okay. Gone. Well, then. Poof. Like, I wouldn’t even be back in this school if not for this woman and she’s the only counselor in that office that doesn’t terrify me. I was going to drive up there and try to get the rest of my schedule worked out so that graduation was actually, y’know, in sight. But now I kinda …

It’s all sticky.

My Milton professor is slightly on the wacky side. I’ll explain why she’s called crazy dog lady one of these days, but yesterday’s class was particularly surreal. “This was a treatise about religious tolerance, but only to a certain extent. It was like saying that we all have a piece of the Truth to contribute, right, but if you let everybody come along to the party, how do we know that somebody isn’t bringing a piece of Something Really Wrong as well? Like, well… something really bad. Like… hmm… no, not that… or that… help me, people, what’s really evil?” …

*considers the clock* Today is my first day of winter quarter. My first class begins at noon and I live about 35 miles from campus, so I should technically have left at 9AM to allow time for traffic. The strange truth of LA traffic, however, is that I will probably get there faster if I leave at 10.15AM instead. Probably. Every day is a gamble that way. I think I’m feeling lucky today.

Done be finals. I might very well have flunked the Restoration Drama one, but it’s done, dammit, done. And now, I go home to drug myself and try to get over this stupid headcold before next week. Sigh.

Boring school talk. Skip freely past.

Wow, okay. Just finished both of my finals for summer sessions classes and am feeling pretty good about how I did. Even the Chaucer one, which I was kinda antsy about, since I hadn’t actually read any passages out of the original text, just in translation from an online version. Having no book and all. Luckily, you just can’t require as much work out of students in a 6-week summer course as you can in the same class over a whole quarter. So no Middle English oral exams for me! Whew. Though our professor did look a little disappointed at …

Bahahaha. Chaucer class was canceled today because our professor called in sick. He never does that. This is the second course of his I’ve taken now and I know friends who were in others. The look on our faces when the department secretary came in to announce this was priceless. I think I might have been one of the three or four people in my row that uttered “Sweet!” in the exact same tone of voice, making us sound like rejects from a bad teen surfer flick. Obviously, I was not the only one dreading the upcoming quiz because of …
