Lace Picture Frame Earring Holder

I made this little thing early last year, after getting tired of constantly rummaging through little boxes filled with loose earrings trying to find a pair to wear on any particular day. I’d previously slapped something together back at the apartment using lace and a plastic hanger, but figured I’d go for a more presentable look now that we are homeowners and all. An old picture frame was pressed into service. I’d always thought it was a bit on the clunky side when used for photos, but the aged metal and wood make a nice contrast when paired with colorful …

Wedding planning stuff, part 1.

This gallery contains 8 photos.

So, as most of you probably know by now, I’m in the midst of planning for our upcoming fall wedding. I’ve been talking to people here and there, but it’s getting hard to keep track of who has seen which pictures I’ve put up over the course of all my research and shopping. So to remedy this, I’ll start putting up my design planning stuff here and the finalized event plans on our more official wedding page. This way, I can share the pretty pictures with all my friends who can’t make it out to Europe due to distance/cost/what-have-you. First …

Trinkets.

I didn’t have a lot of time to browse for fashion-related stuff this trip, owing to our tight shooting schedule. However, I did stop by the mall next-door on my penultimate day and browsed haphazardly through several stores. Had to be careful with my purchases because I was getting close to the weight limit for my luggage. Luckily, jewelry is light and could be stuffed in my hand luggage. Dangly robots! Chunky roses! And a charm necklace that just screams “wear me to work”! Ah, Topshop — Forever 21’s older sibling with a better PR rep, but the same instantly-gratifying-yet-ultimately-disposable …

Return of the bunnies.

Yep, I got another pair. Handmade sterling silver bunnies with the most adorable giant eyes. They’re from Etsy designer Giedre Koloksanskyte. She makes several other little animals as well. I kinda have my eye on the sheep and the cats… Did I mention they’re seriously teeny tiny? Each bunny is just 1cm wide, so they don’t feel bulky at all. Perfect for spring 🙂

Spring cleaning and cheap organizing.

A while back, Cim mentioned a pet peeve about Finnish apartment shelves in her blog. I’d meant to respond to that, but for some reason never got around to doing so. Considering the amount of time I’d put into figuring out a system that would take advantage of deep shelving, I thought I’d babble on a bit about it in this spring cleaning post. The problem is this — most US shelves are made to accommodate just one row of folded clothing, typically making them about 12 inches deep. Give or take a few. The shelves we have here in …

And yet more bunnies.

I’m totally serious about the bunnies, guys. Can’t get enough of them. These are the ones I’m wearing today: Sterling silver, also off of Etsy, by Ishy Jewellery in Canada. Tiny, shiny, perfect little bunny silhouettes. The seller was actually having a 2-for-1 promotion, so I got a pair of these adorable tweetie birds as well! She also makes cute squirrel and fawn sets, for all your woodland animal needs.

On jewelry and my obsession with bunnies.

It’s been a little more than a year since I got my ears pierced. Although I’ve been buying up earrings right and left during that time, I’ve only now started to wear them, after verifying last month that I was not allergic to silver (I’d been wearing gold only up until then) and that my ears have toughened up enough to handle a bit more changing and weight. Thought I’d share some of my cuter purchases and pimp a few of my favorite artisans in the process! I should mention that for the most part, I’ll only be showing smallish …

Ladybugs!

Was grumbling to the boy about the necessity of wearing the same old plain studs for the past 6ish weeks whilst my very first ear piercings healed. He promised we would get something new as soon as they could be removed, to help alleviate the boredom. We came upon these adorable buggies by Juicy Couture at Nordstrom and now they are making my day a little happier: Sparkly! Frou-frou without being too over the top. (And there’s a bizarre history behind the whole ladybug thing that I don’t feel like going into just now, but I probably would have gotten …
