2015 Spring Garden Update
We’re 2/3 of the way through spring, so here’s my first garden picture roundup of the year! Mostly spring-flowering bulbs and some rhubarb right now — the fruit trees are just starting to break bud and should be flowering in another week or two. Just got back from visiting a friend in England and they are a full month’s growth ahead of us, with the berry bushes already having set fruit! We’re slower to get going in the spring, but once the days of midnight sun hit, you can practically hear the plants shooting up nonstop all around. We are breaking ground on the veggie garden tomorrow afternoon — very excited!
Some daffodils for Easter.
These stayed inside for a while before being put on the porch.
Early snowdrops under the plum trees.
A few crocus also peeking out.
I really need to plant more of these very early flowers – they are so nice to see after the snows.
Patches of narcissus poking up within a week of the snow melting.
Narcissus starting to bud.
Each year these patches get bigger and bigger 😀
Snowdrops starting to die down.
Siberian squill hitting its peak.
Violas and narcissus on our doorstep.
Mid-spring bulbs in full bloom!
The tulips are small, but seem to have naturalized quite well.
The mild winter must have given them more time to store energy.
There are even enough that I’m considering cutting some to bring inside.
My goal is for the entire driveway to be covered in flowers.
The rhubarb has also started shooting up.
