Adventures in online shopping.

So yeah, I don’t get nearly enough time online these days but when I do, it’s usually only in 10-15 minutes segments and requires that I browse stuff that is easily left at the spur of the moment should there be any crying in the other room. This has resulted in my becoming a big fan of window-shopping online. There’s lots of cute stuff out there. And lots of weird stuff, too.

Right, so I realize there is a justifiable reason why this product exists. I mean, I get tired of holding bottles at 2AM, just like everybody else. And I know that at some point, babies like to hold their own bottles and this would be a good aid for developing those motor skills. Still, I do tend to enjoy the interaction of feeding time, since it’s one of the more pleasant things you get to do with your baby. So the idea of trying to shortcut it just seems slightly meh to me. Plus, our little guy takes lots of breaks in between bouts of desperate chugging, so this wouldn’t be particularly useful to us right now anyway.

Also, this reminds me of a story my dad told me about how he was once feeding my twin brothers and managed to find a way to prop up both bottles so that he was simultaneously feeding them hands-free. He was very proud of having figured that out. I was just highly amused. This picture makes me think of that story, because I suspect my dad would totally be ALL OVER this invention. I’m thinking it’s no coincidence that a dude is holding the baby in this photo. Hee hee.
