TV-ish babble.

Well, just finished watching all nine seasons and two feature films’ worth of X-Files. It took a little over two months. What a trip down memory lane — it’s funny how with some shows, you can remember exactly where and what you were doing when that episode first aired. Of course, it helps that this was one of the only shows I actually watched on its first run — my parents didn’t believe in cable and I didn’t get a recording device of my own until college. Enough time has passed, though, that I feel nothing more than fondness for …

Wedding blues.

Currently have the Swedish royal wedding on the television, at the boy’s request. Am highly disappointed by Victoria’s dress — I think I saw the same thing at David’s Bridal a few weeks ago. It’s one of those “available to alter and have home by Friday!” types. No, actually, I take that back. That combination of the off-the-shoulder band of fabric with the additional little cap sleeves *under* it? Probably last seen in the mid 90’s. In junior high. Am I being cruel? Yeah, probably. But only because she could have done so much better. Especially given the apparently controversial …

Classic TV.

Am re-watching X-Files from the beginning, for old times’ sake. I was a huge fan for the first handful of seasons leading up to the first movie, but then stopped watching for one reason or another. I made a collection of the episodes neatly labeled on VHS! Have managed to stay pretty much spoiler-free from that point onward, miraculously enough. Though from what I heard, that was probably more because the show got so confusing that even explicit spoilers didn’t really help anybody understand what was going on. We’ll see, we’ll see.

RIP, Project Catwalk.

Just plowed my way through the two last seasons of Project Catwalk and must say that I’m sad to see it go. The first season was sort of bland (OMG, Liz Hurley hosted that poor season like a wind-up robot) and you couldn’t help missing the charm of “Runway” while watching it. The second season was annoyingly focused on the “Big Brother/Real World”-style tabloid social issues going on in the house and edited the judging aspects in such a weird way that the actual fashion aims of the show were almost lost. How the hell were we supposed to understand …

VD? Really? Want to buy new abbreviation, stat.

Caught up with all the _Vampire Diaries_ episodes last night. How unfortunate is it that it abbreviates to “VD”? Makes for some awkward explanations if somebody walks in mid-convo… So okay, I admit that the show got quite watchable on its own merit from episode 4 onwards — when it managed to cut ties with most of the genre comparisons. Which can be a very difficult thing to do. Kudos to the writers on that. Though it does seem that they must have made a pact wherein only Damon is allowed to deliver the best lines. What’s up with that? …

TV IV.

Okay, okay. So after years of self-imposed television exile, I have just now gotten around to watching all available episodes of “Gossip Girl” to date. Three seasons worth. Yes, it is indeed very pretty to look at, and that’s all I really needed. As an added bonus, I was able to chart a fascinating parallel between sales in the hair accessories market and the show’s former headband obsession. Find it hilarious that scarfbands are now in the clearance bin at most stores since they were mostly dropped from the wardrobe department’s repertoire. And am I the only one getting sick …

“I need to learn how to say ‘You’re going to die in five weeks and then New York will explode.’ in English.” *giggle* Okay, okay. I caved and started watching _Heroes_ on Netflix streaming after all the poking coming at me from friends on all sides. Just what I needed, another continuing series to keep tabs on.

Either you’re in or you’re out. Or, y’know, lurking.

I know I should have asked to be taken off the class mailing list after I dropped earlier this quarter, but there’s something terribly amusing about getting emails labeled “From: andrae gonzalo” every week. Even his writing is flamboyant! Hee. On the first day of class, he wrote “Office Hours”, then crossed out “Office” and put “Happy” instead. 🙂 Ah, well, the term’s almost over and then it’ll be moot. Hey, when does the new season of Project Runway start, anyway?

LOST.

Short, sweet and relatively unspoilery. Just your basic Wednesday night snark with the roomie and I… *Locke picks up Charlie’s L* mattierobertson: He’s using his amazing hobbity trail-leaving skillz! Except, y’know, wrong hobbit. giddyupnow: It’s probably on his resume. “Good at being kidnapped.” He’s conveniently travel-sized!
