“I need to learn how to say ‘You’re going to die in five weeks and then New York will explode.’ in English.” *giggle* Okay, okay. I caved and started watching _Heroes_ on Netflix streaming after all the poking coming at me from friends on all sides. Just what I needed, another continuing series to keep tabs on.

Either you’re in or you’re out. Or, y’know, lurking.

I know I should have asked to be taken off the class mailing list after I dropped earlier this quarter, but there’s something terribly amusing about getting emails labeled “From: andrae gonzalo” every week. Even his writing is flamboyant! Hee. On the first day of class, he wrote “Office Hours”, then crossed out “Office” and put “Happy” instead. 🙂 Ah, well, the term’s almost over and then it’ll be moot. Hey, when does the new season of Project Runway start, anyway?

Pride and Prejudice (Keira version) review.

Hmm. Just finished watching the Keira Knightley Pride and Prejudice and am feeling very ambivalent about it. Which I knew would be the case from the moment I heard they were going to be making it a few years back. I’m very devoted to the 1995 BBC miniseries, which was not only true to the spirit and dialogue of the book, but also had the time and scope to give a very long book the coverage it deserved. This was obviously not possible in a 2-hour Hollywood film, so I was just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. …

PS to my last post.

And while I do admit that I can mostly be classified under “the mindless masses” these days, as far as my movie-going preferences go, I do sometimes wonder if they’re not having more fun than the people who are reading so much hype over the course of the year, whilst anticipating a movie, that they’re bound to wind themselves up to breaking point. The _Snakes on a Plane_ syndrome, if you will. Sure, I was there at Comic-Con last year when they showed the new footage, and I cheered along with the rest of that crowd of uber-fen. But then …

Spiderman 3, a Retrospective. In dairy-vision.

So. Spidey 3. Saw it last night. Yes, it was cheese. Huge cheese. And sure, the acting, lines and plot were… well, comic. But then, who ever accused the last two of being high art? Okay, I suppose I should back up a bit. After reading various reviews on LJ over the weekend, I was a bit apprehensive about going to the showing we had purchased tickets for Sunday evening. In IMAX. Because if it was going to be head-poundingly bad on a regular screen, what unknowable pain were we signing ourselves up for in large format? Like in most …

Am waiting patiently for my new domain name to propagate, thus allowing my old website to return. It was never really offline, it just reverted back to an IP address after I let the giddyupnow domain lapse. Have since registered a new one to point there, so vast updates and a complete rehaul are probably in order to make everything correspond properly. How long does it take for a domain to take root, a couple of days? It’s been so long since I’ve had to do this that I can’t remember. Right, so I was going to post about hobbies …

Work it.

So those of you that are into _Project Runway_ know that Tim Gunn (aka the headmaster Dumbledore of the fashion world), has a new book out, “A Guide to Quality, Taste and Style“. Naturally, the book tour took him by our school for Q&A and signing. There were posters plastered all over campus and even professors were encouraging us to go. However, since the event was scheduled to happen during my Friday class, I had already resigned myself to missing it and having to drive to a much more inconvenient appearance later on. Not so, it turned out!

Randomness.

Reason #48594 Why I Heart Preston/Child Thriller Novels Their answer to fanfic and fanart is to open up a section of their official site’s bulletin board for people to post, upload and share. And yes, as much as I *really* didn’t need to see it depicted (even though there are some very subtexty moments, I’ll admit) in this particular instance, there was slash happily bouncing around with the anime-style drawings and silly AUs. On a site moderated and maintained by the authors. So good on them. Many of you already know I’m a dweeb when it comes to schlocky sensationalist …
